Under Advance manufacturing course we were assigned course project to develop 3D Printed Exo-Skeleton Braces for EDS patients.
EDS is a body disorder in which people have hyperflexible joints.our task was to develop an Exo-Skeleton braces for Human hands.
I and my team meet different people and gathered basic information and started this project. Initially, we created the rough sketches and did manny brainstorming sessions to finalize the design and concept to use.we created a 3D CAD model using SOLIDWORKS and then imported the .stl file into INSIGHT software and then with the help of FORTUS 400MC 3D printer we 3D printed the first prototype.the first prototype was just a solid sample.then we refined our designed and printed the parts into different sub-parts.our design uses two materials; a hard material for support and other flexible material to provide flexibility at joints.
For this project, the future scopes are to modify the design for human hand and develop design as well as braces for all the joints of Human Body.
I would like to Acknowledge my Professor Dr. Jill Urbanic to give us a wonderful project which helped me learn the concepts of 3D printing and Rapid Prototyping.
